As of August 2023, the estimated cost of all devices listed below ranges from $1,000 – $10,000 depending on factors, such as but not limited to, number of devices purchased and vendor pricing and availability.
Computers
- KOA recommends any computer older than 4 years be considered for an upgrade. KOA also recommends any computer using Windows 7 or 8 be immediately upgraded.
- Minimal specifications to run K2 on a Windows computer:
Processor | If for K2 only, Intel Core i3 or greater; AMD Ryzen 3 or greater. If used as business computer, Intel Core i5 or greater. |
Memory (RAM) | 8 GB Minimum |
16 GB Recommended (especially if using these machines for anything besides K2)
Solid-State Drivers – SSD (recommended) or Hard Drive | 256 GB Recommended |
Operating System | Windows 10 or newer |
- Minimal specifications to run K2 on an Apple computer:
Memory (RAM) | 8 GB Minimum |
16 GB Recommended (especially if using these machines for anything besides K2)
Solid-State Drivers – SSD (recommended) or Hard Drive | 256 GB Recommended |
Operating System | MacOS Monterey or newer |
- Most modern computers (standard desktop or laptop) will work with K2.
- Google Chrome is recommended as the browser for K2. K2 may work with other Windows-based browsers but may have some ‘anomalies’ happen on certain screens.
KOA recommends that anti-virus software be installed on all computers. Please be aware that running virus scans during peak check-in times can have an adverse effect on computer performance. We recommend you schedule virus scans during non-peak times
Tablet (Mobile device)
- K2 is a web-based application and can be used on both Apple and Android devices.
- Any Apple device 4 years or newer is supported.
- Google Chrome is the recommended browser for K2 (see above for details on how to update your Chrome browser regularly)
Credit Card Processing devices
- It is best to have one per computer for guest present transactions as they are required to be PCI compliant. Without them, all credit card numbers will have to be keyed into K2.
- The Chosen Payments of Utah (CPU) customer care team can assist you in getting your account set up and answer any questions you have about this process.
- Live customer service support is available Mon-Fri from 8 am to 5 pm Mountain Time and can be reached at (801)839-2790 or support@chosenpayments.com.
- In order to provide a secure environment for credit card transactions, all KOA locations are required to conduct credit card transactions using one of the vendor-approved devices:
- P200 – Basic countertop, no signature capture, wired.
- E285 – Portable & completely wireless (wifi & rechargeable battery), smaller screen, no signature capture.
- M400 – Bigger screen, signature capture, wired.
- Please note signature capture is a future K2 enhancement but will not be immediately available upon activating this device.
Touch Screen Monitors
- Touch screen monitors are not required, but positive feedback has been received.
- One suggested model is the Acer UT220HQL 21.5″ LCD.
- A full-sized keyboard and mouse are still recommended.
Electronic Cash Drawer – In K2, the receipt printer sends a signal to the cash drawer, triggering it to open only when needed or you may have the option to open by key or push button. Any make/model should be plug and play.
Bar Code Scanner – Most campgrounds using KampStore also use a USB bar code scanner. Any make/model should be plug and play.
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) – Instantly switches your computer to emergency battery backup power and allows you to work through brief power outages without data loss or downtime. NOTE: If you don’t have power, you may also not have internet.
